Administrative Associate Sr/ HR Coordinator Law Enforcement Training Ctr Position Overview This position is located at the Kansas Law Enforcement Center located in Yoder, Kansas.Hutchinson Campus Overview The Hutchinson Campus, a part of the University of Kansas, is located near Hutchinson, Kansas. Reporting to KU through KU Professional & Continuing Education, the Hutchinson Campus consists of 173 acres with fifteen buildings including two multi-story residential student dormitories. The Hutchinson Campus is home to the Kansas Law Enforcement Training Center (KLETC). KLETC serves as the central agency for all law enforcement training in the State of Kansas. KLETC manages an $8.1 million annual budget, 62 authorized FTE staff (augmented by more than 400 contract/adjunct staff annually), and trains nearly 10,000 students annually in residential, online, and outreach programs. KLETC serves 437 recognized law enforcement and police agencies in Kansas, providing basic training and continuing education programs throughout each fiscal year. Much KLETC basic training and continuing education programs are conducted in a high risk and high liability environment (firearms, use of force, emergency vehicle operations driver training, defense tactics, and search and seizure). The campus, in coordination with KU Professional & Continuing Education, Edwards Campus leadership and other KU offices, also oversees high-level administrative functions, including student discipline, academic issues, legislative funding requests, information technology and telecommunications planning, strategic planning, and external grants. KLETC basic training students reside on campus in residential housing dormitories. KLETC operates 24-hours a day, Sunday afternoon thru Friday evening. Programs developed on the Hutchinson Campus leverage the resources of KLETC and expand the training mission for the Kansas criminal justice community. This is a growing aspect of the Hutchinson Campus mission. PCE Overview KU Professional & Continuing Education (PCE), headquartered on the Edwards Campus, operates in a self-supporting business environment while aligning with KU's academic, research and public service missions. KUPCE works collaboratively with all KU academic schools and departments to provide continuing professional education. Professional & Continuing Education programs serve all 105 Kansas counties, 50 U.S. states, and 61 nations. Position Overview The Human Resources Coordinator is responsible for the logistical requirements associated with the Human Resources function at KLETC and coordinating with staff on the Edwards Campus, the assigned shared services center, University human resources and outside resources as necessary. Job Description 60% - Support for Human Resources Duties: Works with the HR Director at the Edwards Campus in all HR related functions, to include launching searches, position changes, onboarding, and offboarding efforts, etc. Regularly participates in HR-related efforts at the Edwards Campus. Manages the hiring process for all KLETC searches. Serves as the point of contact for all search committee members and applicants for the scheduling of meetings. Tracks the progress of the searches and background checks. Attends search committee meetings and assists the chair with compliance with University requirements. Manages the onboarding and offboarding processes. Tracks completion of mandated tasks, including mandatory training, timely completion of evaluations, etc. Assists in the development of local policies related to HR. Coordinates with vendor agency for the use of temporary employees as necessary. 20% - Local HR Resource:Working with the HR Director at the Edwards Campus, this position will assist with the following: Serves as a local expert and trainer for the HRPAY, My Talent and Galls systems. Assists KLETC staff and supervisors with finding appropriate University resources to resolve issues such as employee benefits, retirement systems, workers compensation, FMLA, ADA, disciplinary processes, union agreements, classification, etc. Coordinates with outside resources for annual benefits enrollment information sessions, flu shots, health screenings, and other employee morale and wellness activities. Coordinates employee recognition activities, including retirement receptions, cards/flowers for illnesses and family member deaths. Assist non-native speakers of English in completing HR activities, including hiring interpreters and finding resources in their native language when necessary. 15% - Records Management: Working with the HR Director at the Edwards Campus, this position will assist with the following Assists with the drafting of position descriptions and ensure all employees have a current position description. Maintain a local file for each employee. Ensure that documents are appropriately filed in the official file for each employee as necessary. Track important dates for employees, such as reviews and other recognitions. 5% - Other Duties as Assigned Required Qualifications HS Diploma or GED Four years of related professional experience (a bachelor's degree may be substituted for professional experience); Effective written communications skills as evidenced in application materials; Valid Kansas driver's license, or a valid out-of-state driver's license and the ability to obtain a valid Kansas license.
