OverviewUnder the direction of Maintenance Supervision or designated personnel does installation, maintenance, repair of plant equipment and construction work.ResponsibilitiesEnsures operation of machinery and mechanical equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements on engines, motors, conveyor systems, and production machines; following diagrams, sketches, operations manuals, manufacturer's instructions, and engineering specifications; troubleshooting malfunctions.
Performs preventative and predictive maintenance activities and makes necessary corrections and adjustments to control downtime and maintain maximum production and quality. Identifies and corrects root cause of repetitive failures.
Troubleshoots and repairs electrical and mechanical equipment. Analyzes mechanical, electrical and operational problems on manufacturing equipment and takes corrective action.
Locates sources of problems by observing mechanical devices in operation; listening for problems; using precision measuring and testing instruments. Investigates equipment failures and difficulties to diagnose faulty operation, and makes recommendations.
Provides technical (mechanical, electrical, pneumatic/hydraulic) expertise to the team to assist in creating and implementing the best solutions to manufacturing challenges.
Reads and interprets hydraulic and pneumatic schematics and machine manuals to perform safe and effective repairs and installations while using basic fluid concepts, practices, and theory.
Removes defective parts by dismantling devices; using hoists, cranes, hand and power tools; examining form and texture of parts.
Start/restarts machines and mechanical equipment after installations, modifications, enhancements, and repairs to ensure optimal operation.
Fabricates repair parts by using machine shop instrumentation and equipment.
Performs general facilities maintenance activities.QualificationsMust have a High School diploma or the equivalent.
Must have 3 or more years of industrial maintenance experience.
Is proficient in one or more of the following skills and has a sound working knowledge of most of the remainder, ie; electrical and gas welding; rigging, pipefitting, machine tool set-up and operation, sheet metal layout and working, heavy and light machinery repair, construction, maintenance and installation, etc.
Is able to operate any and all plant tools. Is able to read from any blueprint, interprets construction and installation instructions, and has a thorough working knowledge of shop mathematics.
Physical Requirements: Ability to stand for 8 hours per day, walk for extended distances, climb 4 flights of stairs to access equipment, climb ladders, work on equipment above the shoulders/overhead, work in confined spaces, be able to lift and carry, push, pull 50+ pounds, be able to grasp, have fine motor skills, be able to see and hear, be able to work in extreme cold and extreme heat.
