The Asst. Director of Parks & Facilities is highly responsible for
managerial, administrative, and professional work in planning,
developing, organizing, managing, and administering maintenance and
repair of public buildings. The Assistant Director will develop,
implement, and manage a city-wide public facilities and parks asset
management program. Using data from the asset management system,
the employee works with considerable independent judgment in
prioritizing, planning, and organizing city-wide facilities'
maintenance projects, reviewing policies and procedures, developing
budgetary controls and recommendations, and in formulating
operational recommendations to the Director. Work is subject to
review through conferences and written reports for attainment of
desired management objectives and conformity with established
policies and procedures. This position assists with daily
operations and directs daily administrative duties within the
department.
A Day in the Life:
What You Will Need to be Successful:
Education: Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or
university with a major in Parks Management, Construction
Management or closely related field.
Experience: Five years of professional experience in the
construction or maintenance and repair of facilities with a minimum
of three years in a supervisory role; or an equivalent combination
of closely related education, training, and work experience. Two or
more years of experience with an asset management system that
includes service requests and work orders is required. Employee is
expected to have acquired the necessary information and skills to
perform the job reasonably well within six months of
employment.
Certifications/License: A valid Kansas driver's license and
acceptable driving record is required.
