Job Description:

Oversees the Fund Development program and Marketing department. Achieves financial support through specific gifts, wills, bequests, and other types of deferred giving for Hutchinson Regional Healthcare System.

Actively participates in outstanding customer service and accepts responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Identifies and researches potential sources of gift support, including individuals, corporations, community organizations, and charitable foundations.
  • Creates strong relationships with partners to include physicians, community members, businesses and the media.
  • Develops suitable approaches, including written proposals to potential donors.
  • Contacts donors and potential donors and builds relationships with them and with area financial advisors.
  • Conceives, plans, and implements all fund-raising programs and special events (open houses, annual meetings, tours) relative to short- and long-range goals.
  • Prepares fund-raising publications and appeals relating to annual giving, memorial gifts, special projects, and bequests.
  • Manages the donor database to track donations, addresses, and potential sources of gift support.
  • Development of marketing strategies for current and new products or services.
  • Develops advertising and responsible for placement in appropriate media venues.
  • Develops press releases and serves as point person for all media inquiries.
  • Participates in regular, continuing educational opportunities, including professional fund-raising associations and conferences.
  • Increases interaction with all medical volunteers (i.e. hospital auxiliary, hospice volunteers, Reno Co. medical support groups, etc.).
  • Plays an active part in the Corporation's service area through membership in the Chamber of Commerce, Rotary Club, or other suitable community organizations.
  • Acknowledges all gifts with letters to the donor and/or family of the deceased and develops donor recognition programs and techniques.
  • Responsible for the development and management of the Marketing and Fund Development Operating budget.
  • Responsible for the management of the Marketing and Fund Development staff.
  • Ensures and fosters a high level of collaboration within a highly matrixed team environment in order to coordinate activities, review work, exchange information, and resolve problems. Champions, models, and promotes service excellence philosophies and behaviors at the facility and system levels to enhance the overall patient experience.
  • Strategizes and drives process improvements focused on innovative care delivery and/or operational models designed to improve services and outcomes. Promotes the use and implementation of technology in the workplace in order to streamline operations, facilitate communications, and optimize work processes.
  • Functions as an integral member of the hospital operations and system leadership teams, serving in an advisory capacity to applicable staff. In collaboration with leadership team members, directs and provides oversight regarding the strategic development, implementation, and maintenance of strong, comprehensive clinical and/or operational services and programs that meet system-wide organizational growth initiatives and the needs of patient populations in the community. Fosters the development and implementation of workforce initiatives effectively. Leads and influences change at the facility and system levels.
  • Along with other members of the team, promotes financial stewardship and clinical excellence for the facility in both operational and capital acquisition processes. Allocates financial, information, and human capital for improvement activities, ensuring the efficient delivery of cost effective services to patients, physicians, and hospital departments. Establishes performance measures, assesses and evaluates operations, and works with department management to assure efficient and effective delivery of services.
  • Performs all functions according to established policies, procedures, regulatory and accreditation requirements, as well as applicable professional standards. Provides all customers of the facilities with an excellent service experience by consistently demonstrating our core and leader behaviors each and every day.
  • Abides by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability (HIPAA) privacy and security regulations regarding all aspects of Protected Health Information (PHI).
  • Required involvement on a local community board of directors.
  • Must participate in management and patient rounding.
  • Regularly demonstrates a strong work ethic.

MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:

  • Knowledge of fundraising strategies and programs.
  • Knowledge of and participation in the various community functions and events
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively.
  • Knowledge of philanthropy, estate planning, and related tax guidelines.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge of grant writing processes and procedures.

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Marketing or related field.
  • Experience in identifying, analyzing, developing and promoting business opportunities.
  • At least five years of fund raising experience.
